What is canyoning?

'Canyon'  is a deep gorge, typically one with a river flowing through it. With canyoning you move through the canyon where you follow the water flow in a playful way.

Your equipment consists of a wetsuit, a helmet and a climbing harness. While climbing, sliding, swimming, jumping and abseiling you cross a natural swimming paradise.

To get an impression, check out the canyoning video below.

For all ages and levels

there are canyoning possibilities. For most canyons you need a basic physical condition. Experience with abseiling is not necessary. Some canyons are even possible from 5/6 years.

Most tours take about three hours being inside the canyon. But often the gorges are in remote places that can't be reached by car. So including travel and walking time, changing and instructions, it's usually a full-day activity.

In this region of more than 300 canyons

you really shouldn't miss out on this thrilling activity. During the warmer seasons it is fantastic to descend the natural gorge due to the cooling water.

But also in the cooler months it is possible to go canyoning. For example, you can opt for dry canyoning. You will learn how to rappel instead of jumping in the water, of course under the guidance of a guide.
