Introduction to ski touring Spanish Pyrenees
The ski touring introduction consists of seven days in which you will learn basic techniques and take wonderful day trips.
Day 1

Reception in Benasque, introduction to ski touring in the Spanish Pyrenees with Chill-Outdoor

Welcome to the Benasque valley

On your arrival day, check into your hotel. Your mountain guide will receive for a briefing on the program, your activities, snow conditions and the weather forecast. 

Day 2

Skiing on the slopes in Cerler, Winter sports in the Spanish Pyrenees with Chill-Outdoor

Cerler enamora

After breakfast at the hotel, you'll go skiing on the slopes of Cerler with your guide. The locals say, ''Cerler enamora,'' a ski resort you will fall in love with! The guide will assess your skill level and tailor exercises specifically suited for your skiing proficiency.

Practicing the 'Vuelta María'

Today's agenda includes ski touring in Cerler as well, but away from the prepared slopes. You'll practice on ascending with skins under your skis and refining your descent technique on virgen snow. You won't forget the "Vuelta María'' after today's lessons. The ski pass is paid for, so if you still have energy left, be sure to enjoy a few runs on the slopes.

Day 4

The big tour ski baptism!

At Ampriu, you'll receive hands-on training with crampons and the essential tools such as the dipstick, shovel, and avalanche pager. Equipped with this knowledge, you're prepared for your first descent beyond the marked ski station area – a moment the guide calls the "bautismo de esquí de montaña." In the afternoon you are free and you can visit a mountain village, but chilling on a terrace is of course also possible!

Day 5

Ski touring in Parque Natural Posets-Maladeta, Winter sports in the Spanish Pyrenees with Chill-Outdoor

Tour skiing to the peak of Renclusa

Today, you set out for Llanos de Hospital, ready for what's known as the Queen's Stage. Among the highest peaks of the Pyrenees, you'll climb the Pico de Renclusa on touring skis. Take in the breathtaking scenery on a fantastic trek, and descend down a pristine slope, accompanied by your personal mountain guide.

Day 6

Snow hiking or still a day of skiing?

This morning, join the guide for one final outing. Strap on special snowshoes, called "raquetas de nieve," and embark on a serene snow hike. This beautiful trek of about 4 hours takes you through the forests and winter landscape of the Benasque Valley. Do you prefer another day of ski touring or rather go alpine skiing? The choice is entirely yours!

After a good breakfast at the hotel, today is departure day. Want to add another night or do additional activities? This trip can be flexibly adapted.

Period
Normally, ski touring is possible from December to April. In the Benasque valley, most ski routes are situated at altitudes of 2000m and above, ensuring a fairly snow-sure season.

Activity guarantee
With this trip, we offer an activity guarantee. This means that we can provide you with an alternative outdoor package if the snow conditions unexpectedly aren't favourable all days. Examples of possible activities include rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, (dry) canyoning, and via ferrata.

Fitness level

  • The introductory ski touring is suitable for moderately experienced skiers who can comfortably ski red slopes and have a good physical condition.

Reservations can be made via the request form at the bottom of this page.

  1. In the request, specify your desired travel period and any other preferences. Upon receipt of the request, we will confirm as soon as possible whether your desired trip is available.
  2. If the proposed trip meets your wishes, you will receive a reservation confirmation with a request for a deposit.
  3. Six weeks before arrival, you will receive the information letter about your trip, and we will also email you the final payment request.
