Temperatures can rise during spring and summer. Fortunately, there are fantastic swimming spots in the area where you can take a refreshing dip. Which one are you going to visit?

River in PerarrĂșa

Are you staying with us in PerarrĂșa or visiting the Chill-Outdoor restaurant? On the banks of the Ésera river it's wonderful to unwind and relax.

There are areas with still waters that are ideal for small children. Here you can use the river stones to build natural dams. Additionally, there are other spots where you can float along with the current. Don't hesitate to ask us at the bar for the spots!

During the morning, the river's current is typically low and calm, whereas in the afternoon the water level rises and the stream becomes stronger, due to the opening of floodgates.

Rialarez Waterfall

Another fantastic option is the small waterfall in 'barranco de Rialarez'. It's just a short, half-hour walk through the gorge to reach it.

The possibility of swimming here depends on the season and the amount of meltwater for that year. Normally, during spring and early summer, this is a wonderful swimming spot.

If the water level is sufficient, you can stand under the waterfall, construct dams, and even search for fossils. Feel free to ask us about the water level and conditions.

Mile post (KM) 4

This is one of our top picks for swimming spots! It's just a 5-minute drive from PerarrĂșa towards Graus. The location features a rock plateau and a stone beach, with some areas covered by shade. You can jump from the elevated rocks into the refreshing water.

This spot is located along the same river that flows through PerarrĂșa. Spanish locals occasionally visit this place, but this gem remains largely undiscovered by other tourists.

If you're staying in our apartments in Torre de Ésera, then all you have to do is cross the road and you'll be right there...

The reservoir of Graus

also called 'Lago Barasona' or 'Embalse de Joaquin Costa'. This reservoir is about 8 km long and 1.5 km at its widest point. At this lake you can relax, enjoy the sun and drink a juice (or a cocktail).

You can also rent a pedal boats and canoes. Or hold on to one of the fun-tubes while sliding over the water. It's also a good spot if you want to swim a long stretch in a row.

If you prefer to stay on land, you can cycle or drive around the lake and take in the stunning views from various points.

River in Benasque

Want to enjoy the rugged mountain scenery while taking a refreshing dip? Then this is definitely a good swimming spot.

10 km past Benasque you take the exit 'Baños de Benasque', where you can park the car in a small parking. Relax on the grass fields at the river side, while being surrounded by the peaks of the Pyrenees.

You can also start several (short) hikes here, including the botanical route to the waterfalls of 'Gorgas de Alba'.

Combine a visit with...

  • Are you planning a visit to La Roda de IsĂĄbena? Make a stop at the Romanesque bridge and relax at the river banks of the IsĂĄbena river.
  • If you are in the vicinity of AĂnsa, take a refreshing dip in the 'Gorga de Boltaña'. It's stunning natural swimming pool in the Ara river. This spot is a local's favourite, located under the bridge in the village of Boltaña.
  • If you're heading to the natural park of La Sierra de Guara or the village of AlquĂ©zar, you'll come across endless canyons and therefore many swimming spots.
    • Such as 'Pozan de Vero', a waterfall in the Vero river, created after the construction of an old dam. The large water pool is used by the locals as a swimming and recreation area.
    • Another option is 'Salto de Bierge', the endpoint of the Peonera canyon. It's a natural swimming paradise, but a bit more touristy (and since 2018 with 2€ entrance fee).
