It is one of the favorite trips among our guests, the hut-to-hut trek in the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park. Often we are asked if we offer other hut tours in the Spanish Pyrenees. So, it’s high time to chart a new course!
Crossing three borders
During this new hut tour, you’ll traverse three different regions, hiking from AragĂłn to Catalonia and Occitania (France), or vice versa. Along the trek you will cross several mountain passes, ascend the peak of Salvaguardia, and sleep in modern mountain huts.
We tested the trek ourselves in September with a group of 7 friends and highly recommend this three-day hiking adventure!

But, back to the beginning for a moment….
What is a hut tour?
A hut tour is a multi-day hike through the mountains, staying overnight in mountain huts along the way. These huts – “refugios” in Spanish – are specially designed to provide shelter in the mountains. They are usually located at higher altitudes, allowing you to continue your trek without descending to the valley. It’s the ideal way to explore a larger natural area and to completely disconnect from the inhabited world.
Who can hike a hut tour?
Pretty much anyone who loves hiking!
There are treks for experienced hikers with trails through rugged mountain terrain. There are also options for those trying it for the first time or walking with children. You can choose the difficulty level and number of walking days, or let us advise you on a suitable trek.
The new Three-valleys hut tour has 3 variants, with differences in level and starting point.
You can walk the hut-to-hut trek by yourself with the route information we sent you. Prefer walking with a mountain guide? Then, of course, this is possible.

And what do I bring myself?
Since you’ll be hiking for several days, it’s important to bring only the essentials. On our hut tours, food and drinks are included at each mountain hut.
What goes in the bag? A spare set of clothes, a refillable bottle, a headlamp, earplugs (yep, there might just be a snorer in the same room…), sunscreen, a sheet bag, etc.
But no worries, we’ve listed all the necessary items for you in a packing list before you hit the trails!

When can I walk the hut tour?
You can embark on the hut treks in the Spanish Pyrenees from June to mid-October. Some routes may be accessible earlier, depending on the snow- and trail conditions.
Did you know you can sleep in some refugios during winter? These are tours focused on alpinism or ski touring, accompanied by a guide.
