One of the most common birds of prey in the Pyrenees is the griffon vulture. Its wingspan can be up to 2.8 meters and it can weigh between 7 and 10 kilos. It's spectacular to see a vulture floating in the air with its huge wings.

Does the vulture have black bristles under its beak and an orange plumage? Or do you notice that the tip of the tail is both long and wide? Perhaps you have seen the bearded vulture, a vulture that is unfortunately threatened with extinction.

The Pyrenees are home to the largest concentration of the bearded vulture on the Iberian Peninsula and are also among the most important in the world.
