Taking care of nature

The tourism sector plays a significant role in climate change. Fortunately, within that same sector, there is also room for creativity.

At Chill-Outdoor, we aim to reduce emissions and stimulate a healthy living environment. We consider both our immediate surroundings - village, region, partners - and the overall environmental impact.

How do we do that? Through our sustainability plan, we actively work towards making our trips more 'green'. Read about the initiatives on this page.

1. Quality of life in the Pyrenees

  • Services in the village: with the Chill-Outdoor Café we offer hospitality services, a meeting point for neighbours, public internet, a mini store with local products and a tourist information point.
  • Contributing to a more beautiful village: we consult with the municipality where we can help and carry out actions such as cleaning hiking trails, improving signage, contributing to local celebrations, establishing routes for cyclists, purchasing table tennis table.
  • Economic growth: attract (foreign) tourism to a relatively unknown and sparsely populated area of Spain. We bring new clients to local accommodations and outdoor providers. In the Café we create employment.
  • Well-being of our employees: equality, a safe workplace and room for (personal) development.

2. Reduce the tourism footprint

  • CO2 compensation is standard included in all travel packages via a partnership with Trees for All.
  • Quality comes first: we prefer the use of local and, where possible, organic and ecological products.
  • Saving energy by heating the water on the campsite with solar collectors.
  • Recycling waste by separating products and using biodegradable paper/plastic.
  • Providing electric car charging stations.

3. Raising awareness for a healthy environment

  • Local collaborations: we exclusively choose providers from the region.
  • Involve the client in the possibilities of traveling in a more sustainable way.
  • Quality is key in our company, whether offering activities, accommodation or gastronomy. After each season we evaluate with the town council, our partners and guests for input on improvements.
  • Annual controls of the quality mark 'Compromiso de Calidad Turística' and participation in the program of the RSA (corporate social responsibility).
  • Selective range of activities: for example, we don't offer no motorized activities.
  • Brainstorms on further improving conscious and sustainable travel.
