Can you see the tower of El Mon Castle? It stands on a steep rocky hill, forming a natural defensive wall and offering expansive views.

The 10th century was a time of wars between Christians and Muslims. That's why they built settlements in elevated places, as it was easier to defend.

As the border between both worlds shifted southward, the population began to settle in the valley, near the river, where the land is more fertile, and communications are more accessible.

The earliest documents of the castle date back to the year 1017. Its defensive tower was one of the largest in the county and consisted of four floors; currently, only half remains.
