The Pyrenees of Huesca: Best adventure destination in the world 2025!

Carved by rivers and crowned by mountains, the valleys of Aragón’s Pyrenees have been a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts for decades. This week, that reputation was officially confirmed when the province of Huesca was named “Best Adventure Destination in the World” at the World Travel Awards 2025.

This recognition elevates our corner of the Pyrenees to the ranks of the world’s best travel destinations—surpassing iconic adventure spots like Banff in Canada, Queenstown in New Zealand, and the Azores.

World Travel Awards: what does this award mean?

The World Travel Awards are considered the “Oscars of the tourism industry.” An international award given to destinations, providers and experiences that excel in quality, innovation and authenticity.

In December 2025, Huesca was awarded the Mejor Destino de Aventura del Mundo 2025 (Translated: Best Adventure Destination in the World) at a gala in Bahrain.

This title comes on top of previous recognitions: earlier this year, for example, Huesca was again named the best adventure destination in Europe – an achievement that puts the province at the highest level.

The result was a true team effort. Together with more than 500 local companies, associations and professionals, Huesca ran an international campaign. The result: more than 950,000 votes and tens of millions of impressions worldwide.
